Virtual Network

Hello everyone,
Its been a few days since I started this post. At this present time I am studying for the Network+ certification. I am going through a Network+ book at the moment written by Mike Myers. Its a really good book. I highly recommend it for those looking to take the test. I don't plan on taking the test just yet. I should be scheduling for the test at the end of next month or so. Anyway, my main reason for posting this new entry is because I want to mention my project I will be working soon. I will be creating a virtual network for the next few days. I've had the idea for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to starting it yet. I've seen demonstrations of this on several security podcasts on how to create your own virtual network. Recently I read a post from SynJunkie describing his current virtual network setup. His description was very well done.

Currently I have VMware Workstation configured on my main Quadcore Desktop with 8GB of RAM and plenty of drive space. This system is used for a lot at the moment. I just need to spend some time reconfiguring my VM's to resemble a fully functional network. This will help me along with my Network+ studies and also help me delve deeper into computer security. I will be learning more about using metasploit and other tools to test the network and my skills as I put it together. I will post updates with network diagrams as I progress. L8r

Computer Security

Hello everyone,
This blog will be here for posting new things that I've learned from networking, security, windows, linux, etc... I know there are other blogs out there currently that do just this, but I hope I can put my spin on it and learn as well as teach at the same time for those who are starting out or also for the experienced who may not know certain things. I mean in this field we are all constantly learning and never know everything and it will never end. Again I will be posting things I've learn over a period of time. This project will really help me out as a scratch pad for a lot of ideas and also give back to the community in a way. I hope you all enjoy this and comment and let me know what you think (constructive criticism is welcomed otherwise stifle your negative thoughts please).

Later...
